Prosecco is popular mostly because it’s so cheap compared with pricey Champagne.
And now buying the sparkling wine can be even easier on your wallet as there’s a clever supermarket hack that means you can pick up bottles for just £1.50 each.
The only catch is that you will need to buy in bulk.
Prosecco is one of the most popular drinks in the run-up to Christmas. More than 8.5 million shoppers drank the fizz last year and the days before Christmas saw half a million bottles sold a day
The hack allows you to buy six bottles of fizz for just £9 – £1.50 each – from Sainsbury’s for those in the know.
The astoundingly cheap deal is only available until Tuesday, October 31, so bargain hunters have to be quick.
The deal relies on a hat-trick of offers – a phenomenon known as ‘stacking’ and works like this.
First, you have to be a new customer on Sainsbury’s online grocery store.
A supermarket war over Prosecco has seen prices fall this year for shoppers, with the average price of a bottle falling by 23p to £6.76 this year
Sainsbury’s is currently selling bottles of its Prosecco Frizzante for just £6 in the run-up to Christmas, already a reduced price.
But it’s also offering customers a 25 per cent discount if they order six bottles online or in store, which brings the price down to just £4.50 a bottle.
This would be cheap enough by itself but you can reduce the price even further if you’re truly savvy.
To bring the bottles down to £1.50 each, you will need to spend at least £60 on an online grocery order and be a new customer.
The six bottles of Prosecco add up to £27 so you will only need to add an extra £33 worth of groceries to your basket.
New customers can use the code SCSPPCOCT18 which will then wipe £18 off your total bill, bringing your basket down to just £42.
Your bottles of Prosecco now cost £9 for six, which works out as £1.50 each.
However even if you’re not a new customer, just buying six bottles at £4.50 each is one of the cheapest Prosecco deals around in the lead up to Christmas.
Asda also started selling bottles at a low-price today, with Prosecco priced at just £5. Its offer runs until Wednesday, November 1.
